On the first morning of Harold & Stephen’s trip to Lilongwe, Harold awoke to the news that thieves had broken into the storeroom at his home. They stole 70 Bibles just brought from Lilongwe the week before, as well as other “katundu” (personal stuff) belonging to the family. On the same night they made a further (unsuccessful) attempt to break into the new home he is trying to finish about 1KM away.
These repeated break-ins are very discouraging, and a constant reminder of the need for vigilance and attention to personal security. We have tried to console Brother Harold that the Lord is able to use stolen Bibles for his glory (and He can!!!), but it’s still frustrating to see the work affected in this way.
Please pray that the Lord will indeed use this incident for his glory – the conviction (by the Holy Spirit) of the thieves and the salvation of those to whom the stolen Bibles will eventually be sold.
Please also pray that Harold will soon be able to complete his new home and move there. It is vulnerable to further attempted thefts while empty, but his wife (Egly) is understandably concerned about moving while there is no lighting and other security measures incomplete, as Harold is frequently away from home in the service of the Lord.
